The question of course is why the green coffee bean is so effective as a dietary supplement. Well, it turns out that there are a number of reasons why this is the case. Pure green coffee bean extract contains chlorigenic acid and other similar polyphenolic compounds which act as powerful antioxidants. When coffee beans are roasted, the amount of chlorigenic acid is greatly reduced, so the roasted beans do not have the same health benefits as they do in their raw, unroasted form. In other words, green coffee bean possesses far more antioxidants than roasted beans.
